Charities
Four
Time Heavyweight Champion, Sgt Slaughter, has established
the Sgt Slaughter Youth Foundation. Having devoted
countless hours of his personal time on behalf of charitable
organizations around the country, this Foundation is
the natural conclusion to those years of service. "Wrestling"
with childhood diseases has been a life long contest
for the Sarge and his army of devoted assistants.
Beginning
in 1986, Sgt Slaughter was named honorary chairman of
the Federal Anti-Drug Campaign. Later in 1987, he was
honored in his home state of Connecticut as Citizen
of the Year. His tireless work with charities has included
fund-raising and appearances on behalf of the Dan Marino
Foundation, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, American
Cancer Society, Make A Wish Foundation, and March of
Dimes to name a few.
The
Sgt Slaughter Youth Foundation will disperse
funds to several children's charities throughout the
world. The Foundation's Board
of Directors, an independent governing body, sets
policies, reviews programs, approves budgets, and monitors
all disbursements of the Foundation.
